Gray skies before the snow flies

The skies have continued to be mostly gray. The air is damper than usual making temperatures in the 40’s (F) feel bone chilling cold. There have been snow squalls, periods of pouring rain and sleet, mornings when there is a dusting of snow but except for the bizarre early October blizzard, this late fall has been mostly dry.

The larch have lost maybe half their needles, leaving a barren bit of gold in the foothills underneath the gray skies of November.

  • Even with gray skies, your views are outstanding!

  • Your tapestry colors of Fall, though muted now are still beautiful and your photos and descriptions make me feel the chill in the air.

Hope you’re cozy by the fire.

  • I have seen the Bear’s Paw and Little Rockies look like that when I was still out there on the HiLine. The best view of skies like that are coming over the hill and just before 87 drops to Loma and near the confluence of the Missouri and Marias Rivers. It stretches to the Highwoods which are east of Great Falls.

  • Winter Cometh. Break out the Uggs!

  • Sorels would be the better footwear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We had our November skies in October here in Minnesota. November has been a beautiful, sunny, warm month, very strange! But soon we’ll be back to normal with snow storms and mittens and boots and cars that won’t start, and icy roads……………we’re heading to Texas after Christmas!

    Blessings on your Thanksgiving, Ann!

  • Thank you Pat! Sandy, yes cozy in front of a good fire.

Another area to explore Glenn… about boots, well, Reamus has come to my rescue on several occasions re my love of Uggs as they are de riquer in his part of the country. I wear them year round and have a winter pair as well, although I do wear waterproof hikers and gaters for snowshoeing – I’m just not a pac boot girl :)!

Yes, an unusual late summer/fall here also. Thank you Marge and Blessings back to you and your family as well.

  • Hi Ann! I’m trying to get back into the habit of spending at least a few minutes of the day catching up on my blog reads. It’s been several months since I took a look around in the blog’osphere! I’m glad you are well, and I really enjoyed looking at all your photos!
    Regards,
    Alison

  • And either lace up work or tactical style in good weather. Georgia Boot makes a very good insulated leather boot also.
And I did wear the obligatory cowboy boots. In fact the only dress shoes I own are from Durango, in oil type leather with a brass toe insert.

  • Thanks Alison – hope things are well with you also.
