The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month – Armistice – a celebration of Peace.
Today and all days, thank you to all of the men and women who have served and are serving – to keep that peace.
A special thought for the veteran dearest to me: Stephen Lee Douglas, U.S.M.C. (above).
For my Grandfather: Paul Biddle, my Father: Merle Summers
Reamus, Buck, Buckskins Rule, Barco, Glenn, Bill and Bob B are From the Front Porch readers who I know have served.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE THIS AMAZING MONTANA AIR, TO WALK OUT TODAY AND CATCH THE SNOWFLAKES ON MY TONGUE, TO REACH DOWN AND KISS MY DOGS ON THE HEAD, TO STROKE MY CATS SATIN FUR, TO LOVE THE PEOPLE AROUND ME WITH EVERYTHING I GOT, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SERVED, WHO ARE SERVING, AND WILL SERVE TO MAKE ALL THESE EVERYDAY MIRACLES POSSIBLE……AND DADDY,WHEREVER YOU ARE, YOU WERE ALWAYS FIRST AND FOREMOST A PROUD MARINE
Thank you for caring. I would be pleased if you wanted to add me to your list. 1966-1976
Thank you from Belgium to all veterans so we are free today.
My husband served from 1962 until 1982, twenty yeare in the Air Force. I am proud of him, and so thankful to him and the others that have made it possible for us to live in a free country. Thanks you for recognizing the troops!
Thank you for remembering, and for reminding us of the reason we served.
Such a wonderful observation for the day. My younger son is ex Navy. Blessings to all in the service to our country.
Thank you. My favorite veterans were Marine’s, too–my father and brother. Both gone now. One buried at Ft. Rosecrans here in San Diego, the other (my brother) to be buried next week at Arlington National Cemetery.
Even my mother was a Marine–I can’t believe I forgot
to mention her as one of my favorite veteran Marines!!n Sorry, Mom!
Very nice. My husband was in the Air Force.
A very nice tribute, Ann. You can add Bob B. to your tally. He served in Korea in the Army. He’s reticent to share his military experiences as I know many men are who served during the actual wars or conflicts. Thanks to all of them, we live free!
Very nice indeed, Ann. Sort of a Soldier’s Angel yourself with that excellent tribute.
My sister at Pixie Place blog has a rather unique posting from Veterans Day about our Dad. I would say better than I could have done.
Thanks from this old seadog.
