Bob, taking a break on a bed awaiting making – I was interrupted by something, but it was naptime and a perfectly good folded flannel sheet was waiting to be a pillow.
I took a break over the weekend also – a break (mostly) from computer and camera. It was a perfect late summer weekend – cool in the morning, warming slowly to just shy of too hot and then cooling quickly in the evening. Blue sky, a few clouds, sun through the trees and a soft breeze made sitting on the front porch with a cozy book and the boys near me feel like just being. So, that’s what I did.
Late summer lazy days…perfect for takin’ a break.

The Road Home photos are taken facing east toward my home. Below, from the same spot, facing west – the morning version of alpenglow: the rising sun lighting and coloring the clouds to the west.
Both photos taken on 8/27/2009 6:46 and 6:47 a.m.

Sharpening the claws…I think I sometimes malign Bob by showing him mostly sleeping…

The fact is, that while he does sleep a lot, as most cats do, he also is out and about, even in Winter. He hunts and does I don’t know what, out in the woods. He often walks “the short loop” with Karl and me and if he does not come the entire way, he is waiting for us at the point where we return to our property.

Big, bad, Bob – he’s not always sleeping.

My favorite way to start a Sunday morning.

Yes, the painting is done, the front porch has been water sealed.

My idea of “peace on earth”.

And then the morning walk with magic clouds and the bluest of blue skies.

And my good dog for company.

The mountains, the sky, the grass, the dog…on a Sunday morning walk.

Completing the circle.

Sunday: From the Front Porch

About 7:45 on this morning’s walk. It was cool and quiet, though we are forecast to hit 90 today and tomorrow – probably the last very hot days of the summer.
I’m fairly sure this week’s sun and heat is due to the fact that my birthday Wellies arrived on Monday:

I ordered them last week when it was wet and rainy. It will be wet and rainy again. In the meantime they are brightening up my entry way!
The house painting is done. I have rollers and pans and water seal stuff all ready to apply to the front porch – hopefully during today’s lunch break. Finish photos on the weekend!
