I am not a car buff by any means and tend toward the truck/SUV kind of thing as I have enough trouble with my hair, so a convertible or going “topless” in the Jeep is not on my list of things to do. But, I DO appreciate the classic lines of both THIS convertible and the cafe as they appeared this Saturday morning.
And the Somers Bay Cafe? – a most excellent breakfast spot. And while I have no first hand experience, I have observed that it is full at lunch time and is also reputed to be a most wonderful dinner place with a complete “Wine and Spirituals” (see previous post) selection. The Somers Bay Cafe is joined by Del’s Bar, Tiebucker’s (dinner only restaurant) and Sliter’s Hardware for the total of Somers’ downtown merchants. There is another bar on the outskirts of town.
And Patty Wylie – if Somers is between your new Montana home and mine, the Somers Bay Cafe would be a wonderful place for a first time meet!

Now that’s some car … that’s when they were big and almost obnoxious looking, but it sure looks in great shape. HA, look at those white wall tires!
Sounds like a few nice eating establishments in Somers and I hope you and Patty are able to meet shortly … perhaps a good blog post?
My favorite kind of cafe..just a little local joint that usually has great comfort food. I just like the atmosphere of such a place.
That’s a beautiful old Oldsmobile. And I’ll say it: “they don’t make ‘em like that any longer.” And they never will. (sigh)
Somers seems to be a place you enjoy…wish I could remember the year of the Oldsmobile, but somone probably will.
Now this is our kind of place! Almost always good food and lots of character!
We think the Olds is a 1958…
Definitely a great meeting place for you and Patty!
Ann, This is definitely my kind of place, it’s amazing what you can find out there in the USA.
I’ll be there with a hearty appetite before the snow flies!!!!!!
Somers is not a “tourist” town although it hosts a few well attended events – next weekend, I think, is a Summer thing which concludes with a street dance and later is ‘Mack Attack’ which is a fishing thing. But, both are local or nearly local type things.
Buck, Reamus – yes, a grand automobile from the era when they were automobiles and not cars! My grandmother, Ruth, drove Plymouth or Dodge – with push button transmission and my other grandmother, Helen who we called “Haha” (why?) had Chevrolet Impalas with ALL of the extras.
Sandy, if you and Jerry make it this way again in the Fall, we’ll tour Somers :)! And that goes for any others who venture this way. Somers, and the road to and fro are the settings for many of the photos on “From the front porch”b
Great, Patty Wylie – have a grand time getting your bearings and just let me know when!
Sandy: I think you’re right.
