the last laugh

Sunday morning was absolutely beautiful – bright blue sky, not a cloud to be seen and the temperature which started at a cold 18 had risen to 30 by 10:30. I thought it was a perfect day for another try for a “Karl and Me” photo. I didn’t have the tripod, but spotted a stump that held the camera…and another in a good spot for a focus point.

Karl and Me – Take 1:

My “mark” was about 20 feet from the camera. As I ran for my spot, Karl started following thinking it was a game. But then he stopped. Not quite. Try again – I put Karl in a stay…

Karl and Me – Take 2:

Ok, we are both here – look at the camera Karl! No, I give you a kiss!

Karl and Me – Take 3:

This has to do – I’m done.

Karl’s reaction

I think this is Karl’s version of ROFLMAO…

  • Looks like a great day. Love those sequences. I think Karl was doing his version of snow angels.

  • Melissa in El Cajon

Great photos, Ann. Not only is your Karl-dog handsome, he has FRECKLES on his paws!!!

  • That made me smile. Thanks Karl.

  • What a way to start my day! A BIG smile and LOTS of laughs over your pictures! Do you think Karl is getting ‘camera shy’ for those posed shots? I love his ending shots!

  • What an excellent photo essay!

I like your hat, Ann. I have a couple that are similar.

  • These (sequence shots) are fun to do – partly because Karl is so funny about it. I didn’t pick the best spot for light and haven’t quite figured how to get the focus exact when I don’t know exactly where we’ll be.

LOL Melissa re Karl’s freckled paws!

Yes, Pat, I would say Karl is not a fan of the whole photo shoot thing – fooled him a bit when I decided to do it spur of the moment and wasn’t carrying the tripod.

Buck, keeps the wet and sun off face and neck, eh? That hat used to look more like a cowboy hat – it is somewhere around 8 years old. I have a new one in black due any day now!

  • I think you’re right about Karl’s opinion. I know I got a good laugh from it! This was a really fun post!

  • Very nice pics and presentation of them. Thanks for this post. Delightful.

  • Now I’m ROFLMAO . . . Karl You’re such a good influence. Laughter is like a medicine!
    Great pics!!!!

  • Those are some great photos. I would love to have been there for the whole focus and run to be in the photo.

  • Wow! Those are beautiful pictures! I LOVE your dog!

My husband and I visited Kalispell for the first time this summer and we fell in love with that area, Whitefish, and Columbia falls. We almost packed up our stuff to move out there. As it is, having sold our home, we are still looking for jobs and a place to call home…

I love your description of your front porch. That is how I feel about it, too. Since we are in transition and don’t have our own home yet, I have really missed my rocking chair. Even though we lived in the city (Portland) I would sit on the front porch and observe life from there. Met people. Drank hot mugs of tea in the morning. There is something so special about it.

    Neat blog!

  • Those are just wonderful! All of them. And Karl certainly got the last laugh!

  • Lou,

It was a bit of a workout, but I had my camera set to take 10 photos after a 2 second delay so I got the 3 series in 3 round trips…but not much time in between – Karl will wait patiently for as long as it takes if HE has picked the spot to wait – not so much when I force the spot and am running on snowshoes near his feet. I would have tried another couple series – for my vanity’s sake but was out of steam. I had my other camera lens in my front pouch pocket and forgot about how it would probably look (my stomach!) until after the third round – I deleted several photos where I look like Mrs. Claus – still cringe at a few in the post…
