Something different

Playing with a Raynox DCR250 Macro converter when I should be working…

The freezing fog is gone. The inversion has cleared. The mountains are visible, but barely. There is heavy overcast and it is snowing. But it is REAL overcast, not the low foggy cloud layer. It looks and feels very different. I could take some photos outside. But it just looks gray and cold now, so I played photographer inside, with my new toy…which came in the mail today.

Something different.

  • Ann,
Something tells me that you are going to be enjoying your new toy for a long time. And we will benefit too. I am already anticapating future pics. Thanks for this one.

  • I will follow the results of your new toy with great interest!

It’s nice to be out of the inversion, but you’ll pay for it with night time temps the next few days! I thought we had lost the inversion too, but today it looked as though we still had it.

This converter has a good reputation and I’m pleased after an afternoon of playing. At $49.99 it is considerably less expensive than a macro lens. Perfect for me to get a start at macro photography.

It has a nifty mount that snaps on to a lens that is 52 to 67 mm. The photo in the post is with my 50mm 1.8 lens. I tried it outside on my 17-85 also. (Canon EFS lenses). It is a lot of fun and since it is a small, snap-on lens, will be easy to carry along.

  • Wow Ann, you have to be lovin’ the new toy! Can’t wait to see your macro skills unfold. Hoping I learn a thing or two from your endeavors along the way.

Wondering minds need to know… did the gorilla glue work??????

  • I can’t figure out what that is.

  • Hilary,
It is a dried gardenia that came in a potpourri.

    Kelly Myers,
    Tomorrow (Sunday) is the test.

  • Beautiful. I am going to the camera store as soon as I save my pennies!
