A nice weekend

July 7, 2008

We had a very nice weekend…no big plans, just a relaxing do what we wanted, when we wanted kind of weekend. I usually dread the 4th as Montana has relatively few restrictions on fireworks - especially in the county where my home is. The noise has been incredible in years past and sometimes starts with random firings at noon which sends Karl indoors until the wee hours of the morning when things would get quiet enough to go out before going back to bed.. Over the course of several days before and after the 4th, things can be pretty traumatic for Karl and our routine. This year, though, it was only the night of the 4th and 5th - and while loud and kept us somewhat awake - all stopped at midnight both nights. And it’s over now.

Bill and I took a drive around Echo Lake and then Swan Lake on Saturday - no photos - just looked and enjoyed the scenery. Bill grilled, I cooked, we sat on the front porch, watched a couple of movies, did some yard work - a nice weekend.

And this morning, without too much annoyance, the slide toppers/awnings on the bus got fixed.

Still no satellite tv (waiting for the repaired system to be returned), but the bus has a nice spot that gets some shade, 50 amp power, room for the awning which gives the 4wheeler a shady spot - it is a nice retreat for Bill to watch DVD’s, work on the computer, play his guitars, take a nap, etc. - while I’m working in the house. He refers to it as his “fortress of solitude” - he’s there now…taking a nap after a hard morning doing bus stuff…
