Our day in the snow

June 10, 2008

Yes, snow…June 10…on the ground at the house…

Bill

Bill

Bill said the last time he saw snow was ‘91 or ‘92 on his way to Illinois (he grew up in Illinois and 3 of his 4 daughters live there). He had fun but refused to make snow angels and I can’t blame him as this snow is very wet.

Snow

I took the “Mountain Morning” sunrise photos in the previous post about 6:00 a.m. By 7, it was overcast, dark, began raining…the rain started looking a bit thick, the temperature dropped from 42 to 37 and the rain got thicker…by 8 it was snow and it has snowed all day long.

The Snow Advisory has been extended until noon tomorrow. …but it is forecast to be in the mid to upper 70’s Friday and the weekend!

Bob chose to stay inside and eventually in front of the fire…

Snow

The downside to this late snow storm is the damage to leafed out trees.

We did make a bit of progress on the TV situation…

Snow

remember rabbit ears???? - they still work.

Our day in the snow - ending with Bill grilling …in the snow…on June 10.

Too funny. But I am very disappointed as I was looking forward to the snow angel pictures of Bill. I think it was in the cards for it to snow and give Bill a proper welcome to Montana. Really great pictures ya’ll. Bob is the smart one I think, that’s a cat for you. So glad your having fun and really glad you didn’t let the snow interupt the grilling.

    Beautiful…
Can’t belive you got snow! We’ve had temps up to 101 here… would love to have some of your cool temps…
Last year we had a freeze the end of May and the leaves had to start all over again… will yours be the same?

So far it hasn’t dipped below freezing - strange pattern cold enough to drop snow at about 35 and this morning (Wed) at 5 a.m. it is 33. The “bad” thing is there will be broken trees and branches as the leaves hold more snow than the branches can bear. There are cherry orchards along the east shore of Flathead Lake - they will be ok as long as no hard freeze and the lake helps keep the orchards a bit warmer. Ann

I am very impressed that a man from Florida was able to stand in falling snow wearing SHORTS! Now that’s impressive. Looks awfully cozy up your way…It was 102 here in Connecticut today (on my back porch).

Wonderful captures! Both Bill and Bob seem to know how to “deal” with the weather. (I’m with Bob though)

Hi Ann and Bill!!!! Bill looks like a kid. The bus does not like the snow. I bet it’s the first time the bus has had snow on it. I’m on my favorite lake having a great time with Buddy. Buddy said to tell Karl hay. Your friend Houston

Yes, Houston, first time the bus and Bill’s truck have been in the snow…that bus has traction drive you know…it WAS made for this…the aqua-hot is having fits and only kind of sort of running, but it did that in Texas last winter also. It took the truck nearly 20 minutes to defrost and Bill used the rear window defroster for the first time yesterday. It was all very exciting… Ann

Great pictures! I can’t believe the webcams at the top of Teton Pass in the last couple of days. Looks like snow all around the region this June. I was hiking on dry slopes last May. Mountain weather is so unpredictable. Glad Bill has a sense of humor.

I am still sweatin’ it out back east while my friends back in Jackson and Victor, ID are starting to lose it going on 7 months of snow! the grass is always greener …
Glad you guys are having fun … enjoy!
