Montana or Bust… into the West

June 4, 2008

The bus rolled this morning at either 6 or 7 but I’m betting 6. The “problem” is that the bus clock says one time, the Captain’s computer says another and his watch which lives in the bus matches one or the other. And he doesn’t care - he gets up when he wakes up, goes to bed when he’s tired and eats when he’s hungry…I cared as he phoned at noon (his time - CDT) to say he was nearly to the planned destination which was 377 miles from his starting point and I was surprised. He wanted an alternate destination as he had a few more driving hours in him. So he’s at the alternate which was 477 miles and he arrived at 3:00 p.m. which was the goal to get settled in before predicted thunderstorms after 4. He did note that the speed limits in the west are 75 mph…whatever, the bus did fly today! And he is now about 2/3 of the way here with a bit over 1K miles to go.

Mountains, Lupins and Karl

First - a note from Karl…

Karl's note

Onward…I have some photos from yesterday and no profound words to go with them. It has been rainy, thundershowery, occasional sun breaks … the rain is wonderful, we need it. It is a busy work week. So there you have it - weather and work. I’ll be quiet now and go with the pictures.

Mountains in the mist yesterday morning.

Lupins - they are starting to bloom around my woods. And I am continually fascinated by the way that the leaves hold raindrops. Walking the path that has the lupins on each side, it is like walking through a field of diamonds when the raindrops catch the light.

And Karl…it has been cooler and so he is full of joy and running and generally playing on the morning walk. A good stick is plenty to keep him happy…well, and his dirt pile!

Thus was yesterday - Mountains, Lupins and Karl.
