My Karelian Bear Dog - official NKC name of Kharlampii (Russian for “Joy shines”) - known as Karl, Good Dog, Big Guy, Karlsie, the Crown Prince… (those last 3 courtesy of Bill!)… he has an entire dainty ritual for treats and “No!”, we will NOT discuss how many treats he gets each day…
Once in possession of a treat bone, Karl trots off to some spot that he deems comfortable and I guess also “safe” - in the house it is on the front room rug. Bill and I selected this rug together - it was inexpensive and a “trial” to see if a rug would look good in the area…my point being, it is not a many thousand dollar oriental, family heirloom rug and no one has any objection to the dog having treats on it. Moving on…Karl takes his treat to the rug, carefully lies down and puts the treat on the floor to contemplate a bit before eating. Then…when he’s good and ready, it is one little bite at a time.

First bite…

cleaning up a few crumbs before going for the second bite…

further along…

…one…bite…at…a…time…….

getting a few crumbs…

All gone - so sad!
