Bloggie Awards Voting

January 25, 2008

Well, sadly, “From the Front Porch” did not receive enough nominations to be a finalist in any category…maybe next year!!!

BUT… 2 of my most favorite blogs are in the finals and if you enjoy either, please go and vote - or just go and see if a blog that YOU like is a finalist and vote for that blog.

The 8th Annual Blog Awards to vote - Please VOTE if you love blogs and any of the finalists!

My absolute favorites Confessions of a Pioneer Woman (http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/)   and The Pioneer Woman Cooks  (http://www.thepioneerwomancooks.com/ ) - both by the same author - are finalists in Best Writing and Best Food Blog respectively.

Have fun and if you love reading blogs, check some of the nominees’ blogs.

Iced Up

The furnace which is run by the Aqua-Hot system didn’t fire after its initial burst at bedtime - it didn’t get below freezing so no harm but the “house” was a bit chilly in the morning.  It was 34 and not raining so we thought we’d just up and go and stay ahead of the “wintry-mix” advertised for today.  BUT…the overpass for entry to the interstate iced up and the local law shut down 2 lanes and escorted crossings resulting in a traffic backup past the RV part entrance.  That and a heads up from a neighbor who had been to east to Monroe (we’re in W.Monroe) to pick up his nurse wife and told of accidents on the interstate convinced us (ME!!) to sit tight.  Photos of ice on the 4 wheeler, truck and rear of the bus helped in the convincing - we are after all, travelling in a fully equiped and extremely comfortable motor-home with no pressing need to get anywhere, anytime.

As far as heat, since it is not freezing and not forecast to freeze tonight AND the heat pumps are working, plus we have electric heaters - we are plenty warm and cozy.  We have plenty of food, tv, movies, books and I have work so we’ll have a lazy day off the road.  Tomorrow the plan is to head east to Jackson, MS - then turn south to Hattiesburg, MS and Mobile, AL - but probably stopping between Hattiesburg and Mobile for the night.
