Writing continues “from the front porch” - actually the back porch… but Bill’s house in Florida has both a front and a back porch. Also 4 acres of run around room surrounded by scrub oak, live oak, some native FL plants that I still need to learn the names of… as well as the evergreens, azalea and crape myrtle that Bill has planted. It is a beautiful and peaceful spot.
On a prior trip we spent an evening on the back porch setting up - or rather working on setting up - a telescope that has an interface to a computer to allow control from the computer and capture of images from the telescope. The telescope itself will find constellations, stars and planets based on it’s earthly location and the date. To do all this it needs to be “set up” - perfect task for 2 gadget junkie/computer afficiandos! We watched the instructional video and had the written instructions with various addendum. Well, we had a LOT of fun but it will be at least another night or 2 to get the thing doing what it can do.
It was, however, a beautiful night and the just past full moon rose and lit up the clouds on the horizon casting a bit of night magic over the porch, the yard and us.
