ready to roll…

November 5, 2007

8:40 - 39 degrees, overcast - all hooked up and ready to roll.  2 1/2 to 3 hours to Missoula where I’ll get propane, fuel and Walmart supplies and then another 2-3 hours to Bozeman or Livingston for the first night.

 Today’s route - Hwy 93 south to I-90 east.

5:30 p.m. Arrived Bozeman KOA - plugged in.  A good trip - maybe some photos later.

Getting Hooked up…

Sara and Bob

Good bye to Sara and Bob! Sara is NOT a morning person - she set her alarm to get up and say good bye AND send me off with fresh carrot cake!

Karl

The drive along Flathead Lake - Karl enjoyed the view also! He usually rides on the sofa behind me but spent a bit of time at the start yesterday standing beside me and watching out the windshield.

on leaving MT

post prologue:  Recent posts have been a bit few and far between - a lot going on to arrange things so I could do this trip. I have a number of photos - the garden finish, some gorgeous moon and cloud photos, other thoughts from the last 10-14 days - that I hope to post along the way.  The trip entries - in the morning, will have some bare-bones route info and in the evening I’ll update and post any photos.

….on leaving MT

The “Fall back” to standard time took me a bit by surprise - I don’t really get excited about it as I don’t have to get up to be anywhere and just go by my internal clock anyway… but was up at 3:45 today and yesterday so an early venture outside with Karl.

I stepped out this morning to the yips of coyotes in the distance and a brilliantly, clear and starry morning.  The constellation Orion’s Cross is over the driveway, the big dipper nearly overhead, Venus I believe is extremely bright in the eastern sky and Cassiopeia over the house.  The little dipper is a bit hidden by the woods in the northern sky.  All familiar - it will be interesting to see how the sky changes as I move east and south.

Some time ago I remember seeing a sweet thing about the stars being God’s peepholes - the night sky a “blanket” over us for resting but the stars so He could keep watch.  Through all of my life I have felt the presence of God or a personal angel or ??? - a guiding and guarding presence.  And no less this morning than any other time.  Not an “everything will be the way I want it” presence but sometimes that quiet voice of intuition, warning, command or suggestion.  I listen to it with more attention the more life experience I have.   This morning as I prepare to leave, I feel peace - I believe it will be a good trip!

Added on 11/6 - photo was taken as I pointed the Winnebago south towards Bigfork.  This is my “good omen” - Hard to see in this through the windshield shot, but the sun was coming through the clouds in rays.  I have always taken that as “personal” communication from God - it is my “sign” to remember that all is in His Hands.
