So a few posts back (Headed for home), I posted a photo of my step-Dad, Bill - at cocktail hour in his gardening attire which includes a straw hat. The “missed” photo-op, though was the first morning I was in South Fork and I met Bill going down when I was going up ( stair clarification later) - he was in the gardening outfit PLUS carrying a rifle… on his way to deal with squirrels, chipmunks, etc. that were having their way with the strawberries. Anyway, it was a classic! and I missed it.
We had several straw hat discussions over the course of my visit - I travelled with my felt cowboy hat (too hot!), a baseball cap (not enough sun protection) and was admiring his hats… (Walmart!!!). I looked in a few shops but did not find anything - I was regretting not bringing my own “gardening” hat.
Anyway, thought it was only fair to also post a photo of me in my straw gardening hat - in my opinion, it is not near as flattering as his! I also need to get a “cocktail flag” - they had a small white flag with a martini on it - it flies during cocktail hour - what a great idea! However, currently, the below is cocktail hour from my front porch…
Stairs… my folks house is built into a hill… my motorhome was parked in front of their “lower” garage. A flight of stairs from where I was parked to their lower level. Enter the house - ground floor is a “daylight” basement with hot tub and windows on 2 sides - up a flight of stairs to the main level - up another flight to the bedroom level. I got a fair amount of exercise! They like that it keeps their ski muscles in shape…
Progress today - preliminary inside cleaning of RV, mowed lawn, trimmed lawn, added a sprinkler in the garden, had a mid-morning nap… last day of “vacation” - tomorrow is back to work fulltime! Wow - a great 3 1/2 weeks of RV travel, visiting, seeing some of the country - Life is good!
